Brief: To re-structure & design a dark & dated
4 storey Georgian Town House in Pimlico.
Problem areas: Each floor was partitioned by stud walls, & decorated in
dark 1980’s stripes & prints, with heavy drapes at the windows to
give privacy from the busy street outside.
Solution: To remove internal stud walls to create an open plan kitchen / dining
room on the ground floor, and large open plan living area on the first floor.
The third floor was converted into a large master bedroom with ensuite bathroom
separated by sliding Shoji screens, while the basement was converted into three
areas; a study come guest bedroom, a home gym, and a steam room. Matching sheer,
flat-headed window blinds and venetian blinds were fitted at each window, to
give privacy & light diffusion during the day, and black out privacy at
night.
